Weekend Getaway: Blowing Rock

I love cabins. The smell of fresh air, the beautiful mountain scenery just makes cabins that much better. I'm so thankful for being in such a close, loving family that we can do this! I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed the whole weekend!

I had to get some ring shots so i stole my mom's ring for a while and played around with it :)

Good Ole Southern Bliss- Rodeo in Deep Gap

A few posts ago I said these pictures would be edited SOON. Well, was I wrong. Suddenly school took off without telling me and I was struggling to catch up. As a result, there was no time left for editing photos.

During this event, I had serious lens envy. I was wishing I had a longer zoom that what my lovely 17-55mm. Let, me tell you...my next purchase will be the 70-200mm 2.8 Nikkor lens. Ahhh...seriously.

Hopefully I did this rodeo justice with these photos. It was a beautiful day. So beautiful that I wore a tshirt and flip-flops to take photos. Little did I know the temperature would play a cruel trick on me and say, "Just Kidding! It's actually cold outside!" So when it started to get dark, my toes and fingers also started getting blue. By the end, my teeth were chattering and if you felt my hands they were shaking so much that I was afraid I wouldn't end up with sufficient pictures. So, future tip for myself: Dress according to weather, but bring back up jackets! (especially if in Boone...the weather likes to change 3 times in one day)

Picture Below:
I kid you not, this was probably one of the scariest moments. Only I didn't know it until I took my eye away from my viewfinder on my camera. The only thing I knew was there was dirt hitting me from the bulls feet hitting the ground. When I looked up these beastly creatures were about a foot away from the fence. SCARY! The funny thing is, Westin wanted to get in there and rope one. (so different from each other) haha

Pinning My Interest [or for lack of a better word...pinterest]

I've realized that tonight I am getting no sleep.

Currently I am:

  • Craving a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks
  • Resisting the temptation to online shop
  • Trying to be productive instead of wasting my time not sleeping
  • Thinking about how miserable I will be in the morning
  • But, also thinking about how wonderful it will be sleeping in on Friday
  • Wanting to be done with school
  • But, at the same time I don't want it to end.
  • Wishing I had someone to have a late night chat with
  • Pinning 'cause im a pinster
  • Planning out my life (because that's what I do when I stay up late)
  • Realizing I shouldn't plan my life because I'm not in control, God is.
The holidays are arriving soon and I am super excited!
It hasn't been too cold up here in Boone, and I'm thankful for the extension of warmish weather! Part of me thinks I have insomnia...specifically when I have English the next morning. (hehe) Looks like tomorrow I'll be reading the back of my eyelids in class instead of the essay.

So, my recent obsession has been pinterest (like every other girl on this planet). For those of you who don't know what pinterest is, I shall explain through pictures!

First, you request an invite or get one of your friends to invite you!

Second, you create and account and login with Facebook!

Third, you create boards. Boards are categories where you can pin things that you are interested in. (Hint: Pin....Interest....Pinterest) WahLah!

By the way, you can search basically everything, because thats what the tab says you can. (There is also a search box)

My personal favorite box is Dream House:
Here are my pins!
As you can see the words "Dream House" is an understatement. I just like to daydream so I pin my day dreams into boards. I guess thats why girls like pinterest so much. While boys are off playing video games, girls are off pinning their interests. Take that Xbox!

Goals For the Rest of the Year

I am not ready for it to turn cold on me. I am sitting on campus and my toes are frozen as we speak. I'm wondering if I will make it through this semester without walking across campus and turning into an ice cube. I am feeling very productive lately and so that has made some extra time for me to blog! Almost all of the leaves have changed and fallen, but it is still beautiful in Boone. School has really picked up and is trying to kick my butt, but I refuse to let it. I have managed to stay ahead/ catch up on all of my work, and I am so ready for Christmas. Yeah, it isn't even Thanksgiving OR Halloween yet, but Christmas makes me feel warm inside and quite frankly, it's not so warm outside. So, I need all the warm I can get from my Dave Barnes Christmas CD, and lovely, white Christmas lights hanging in my room. It's so cozy! I figured I would write a list of goals for the rest of the semester so I don't loose track of what I need to do:

  • First and foremost, STAY AHEAD in school work!
  • Start & Finish editing the Rodeo
  • Finish editing Elizabeth's Bridals
  • Have a fun & successful/organized Guinn Family Session
  • Actually make something on my list of D.I.Y. things
  • Cook a full course meal for me and Westin to eat! (that is good)

Jill- Senior Session

This session was a long time coming. We had so much trouble getting a day when there was no rain. The day we actually did shoot, it was raining all day. I drove home from Boone the night before and I was really dreading not having a session for Jill that day. Finally, it was probably an hour before we were going to go out and take pictures it stopped raining. I was ecstatic and so ready to shoot! Jill was so much fun to work with. The sun even came out a little bit at the end of her session. We took pictures in her back and front yard. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL!

Jill, I hope you have a great senior year! Congratulations!!

This is by far my favorite from the whole session! You are beautiful Miss Jill :)!
