Westin
Wes is not only my best friend, but also the love of my
life. I never thought that someone could bring me so much joy, inspiration, and love. He is the one that can make me laugh when I’m crying my eyes out. We
share so many memories in only the short time we’ve been together. It has
almost been 2 years, but if feels like forever, yet it feels like it was
yesterday. This past year has been a whirlwind. After his accident I swore I
would never live a day and not thank the Lord for his life. I am eternally
grateful to God for being between that boat propeller and his sciatic nerve. I
still remember so clearly the emotions I felt the night of his accident. I
remember the adrenaline pumping through my veins as Caitlin and I stormed up
the six flights of stairs in the Greene dorm. My first reaction to my dad
telling me was confusion. I didn’t know how severe the accident was until we
got in the car and left orientation. I thought to myself, “I’m leaving
orientation in the middle of the night. This is bad.” That’s when all the tears
started streaming down my cheeks. We were stopped at a gas station on the way
to the hospital when I got a call from Westin. I had never wanted to be by his
side so bad in my life. Even writing this now is bringing back so many
emotions. I know through his accident we became a lot stronger not only in our
relationship, but our relationship with the Lord. God kept Westin here for a
reason, and I will never take for granted what I have with Westin. I love you.
2.
Piano
When I started playing the piano I was in the fourth grade.
From the time my hands touched the white and black keys, I fell in love with
it. Piano came naturally to me; I never had to practice really hard for it. I
stopped taking lessons after my sophomore year in high school because I felt
like I wasn’t playing because I loved it. I was tired of being forced to play
music I hated. Now I play because of pure enjoyment. I play when I’m stressed.
I play when I’m sad. I play when I’m happy. Music relaxes me and maybe one day
you will find me in a coffee shop in Boone playing some cover songs. Maybe just maybe.
3.
The Mountains
When I think mountains, the two words that come to mind are glorious and heavenly. Recently, I’ve grown to love the mountains, which might
be a good thing since I will be living in the mountains not too long from now.
I can’t wait to go skiing, and maybe Westin will convince me to learn how to
snow board. We will see! Psalm 36:5-6 “Your love, O Lord, reaches to the
heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great
deep.
4.
Photography
I have found my passion in life, and not many can say that
at such a young age. If you ask me what I love to do, this is it. When I think
about taking a picture I go to my happy place. I have so much to learn and
right now I am just soaking it all in. There are so many things I want to do. I
want to witness through photography. I love capturing God’s miraculous creation
in a photo. Snow pictures may be my favorite. I want to travel the world with
my camera in hand! For me it’s not about success or money, I just enjoy the
thrill of being behind a camera and learning. Photography is like a puzzle. All
the pieces (the subject, the lighting, the angle) have to fit perfectly and
that’s just half the fun. I love editing. Right now I’m not an expert but I
love sitting down and messing with photoshop. After editing, I love seeing
people happy from the pictures I take. I am so anxious to get started and take
the next steps to becoming the best photographer I can be.
5.
My Savior, Jesus Christ.
I owe my life to God. I could not get through the day
without Him. He keeps the joy in my heart, and never ceases to amaze me. I am
eternally grateful for everything He has given me.
6.
Peonies
I absolutely LOVE peonies. They are my favorite flowers!
Hence my name at the top of my blog! Yep, you guessed it, that’s a peony!
7.
White Chocolate Mochas from Starbucks
I could live off these! They are so sweet and warm. I’m
really thinking about finding a mocha maker! Haha
8.
Sun
I love a bright morning sun! I love the feeling to waking up
and seeing the sunshine through the shades! It instantly starts my day off
right! Not to mention it makes a beautiful photo!
9.
My sister
Since we were babies in my momma’s belly, Katie and I have
been in sync. We’re the kind of twins that could have a conversation and not
say a word, and it’s TRUE! We do it all the time. We’ll be watching TV or we
will see something at the same time and this is the extent of the conversation.
(me: “Katie…” Katie: “yeah…”) we don’t even get it. We are starting to look
more and more different as we grow older. She is now moved into her own studio
apartment and it is so strange to see her so independent. She has always been
my “little” sister, and now she’s so grown up. I’ve always been there for her
and now she is five hours away! Our whole lives we have done everything
together, from sports to schools, to friends. As we start our separate ways in
new places, we will make new friends and start our own lives, but I know our
hearts are attached and that will never change. I love you sissa.
